On their own, neither RFID nor video counting provide fool-proof access control. However, SST's unique solution combines the best of both technologies as each system continually validates the other. The product has all the benefits of physical turnstiles but can be used where they are too slow and restrictive.
Virtual Turnstile® is a pioneering new Access Control solution, which negates the need for obtrusive physical barriers such as traditional turnstiles by using long range RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to create an invisible radio field around the entrance. Used in conjunction with Intelligent Video Analytics (provided by Ipsotek), this enables us to monitor the passage of every individual entering and leaving a facility. Unauthorised entry into restricted zones by persons without a valid ID card is notified to security guards via screen-based alerts, radio pagers, strobes or sirens.
In addition to standard doorways, the system can be used for much larger entrances such as warehouse doors where physical barriers are made impossible due to the presence of objects such as fork-lifts and delivery trucks. Unlike normal access control systems, authorised personnel are not required to slow down in any way as they enter into the restricted zone, thus maintaining a continuous flow of traffic at all times whilst also providing secure access.
Ipsotek's video analytics software is used in the most world's most demanding security environments including Afghanistan. Recent UK deployments include iconic sites in the capital such as the London Eye and The O2.
With over 10 years' experience in a young industry, Ipsotek has achieved several ‘firsts', including scenario-based detection, virtual perspective and the full integration of audio and video analytics.
Ipsotek's Visual Intelligence SuiteTM offers a set of algorithms that can analyse and detect potentially undesirable behaviour including theft, unauthorised access, unusual movement of vehicles and even platform suicide.
